Brown Hare

The Brown Hare, sometimes called European Hare, is quite easy to distinguish from a rabbit. It is larger and lighter coloured with long ears tipped with black.

They can run very fast when disturbed.

These hares live in the field bordering on to our garden at the front. They often venture into the garden and have even been seen "boxing" each other in springtime - an activity which inspired the phrase "Mad as a March Hare".
