Common Toad - Bufo bufo Bufo bufo
 
Length: 3 - 6" (8 - 15 cm) Females larger than males
Habitat: Damp areas of woodland, gardens, fields, etc.
Colour: Brown / green
Diet: Insects, larvae, slugs, worms
Common Toad    

 

The common toad is mostly nocturnal and hides in sheltered places during the day.

They are broad and squat with warty skin. Although their skin colour varies depending on habitat, they are mostly a brown/green colour. Their eyes are orange with horizontal black pupils.

To deter predators, they secrete an irritant from their skin.
