Nuthatch - Sitta europaea Sitta europaea

Size: 5.5 inches (14 cm)
Habitat: Deciduous woodland, wooded parks and gardens.
Feeding: Hazel nuts, acorns, beech mast and small insects
Eggs: 6 - 10 white eggs with red/brown spots
laid from late April to May, incubation 14 - 15 days

A very distinctive bird with slate grey head and back, and whitish, buff below and chestnut on its sides and under its tail. It has a black stripe on its head and a long black pointed beak.
