Cuckoo Flower, so-called because it flowers at the same time as the cuckoo starts to call, is also called Lady's Smock or Milkmaids. It can be found in damp grassy places.

The lilac or white flowers are 1 - 2 cms across with 4 petals. Both the leaves and flowers are edible, a rich source of Vitamin C and can be eaten in salads.
