Wood Dock can be found in meadows, waste ground and woodland but requires moist soil.

The leaves are long, narrow and pointed. The flowers grow in clusters along the stem.

The young leaves of this plant are edible and can be used a substitute for spinach, either raw or cooked. However, as the leaves get older they become rather bitter.
